Clock using Arduino and a Freetronics DMD display.

I took one of my Ardev boards with its Real Time Clock and Temperature sensor and combined it with Two Freetronics DMD LED Displays. I also added a $15 bluetooth to serial board.20140920_230648 20140920_224744 By connecting via bluetooth with your smart phone bluetooth serial app, you can see the output of the clock and send it commands to change the time and bring up some info screens.20140920_22585620140920_224827 20140920_225737 20140920_225822

    hay ... how do I set the clock? if using bluetooth application where I can get?
    • I have been using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=apps.BT&hl=en A Bluetooth virtual button app for android, it has a row of keys and you assign a serial "text" to be sent when you push the button. Just so long as you can send serial bluetooth from a device you could use anything for the remote. A small arduino with a blue tooth module and buttons perhaps, or even just a serial terminal from your nearest pc with Bluetooth. Thanks for your interest in the project, two people so far have built this clock and its really easy to put together. I have a two panel version atm.

  6. Hi. What a great looking idea. I am totally challenged when it comes to this Arduino stuff, but I want to have a look at it any way. I have purchased a 3231 RTC and can find almost nothing about outputting to DMD. I can read the serial out and can see the correct time incrementing. Is there any chance that I can get this sketch to try it out? Thanks, Colin
